Tipster's confidential information posts on Facebook

SACRAMENTO, CA - Sacramento County sheriff's detectives are trying to figure out how a confidential form went public on a Facebook wall post.

Someone posted the document with an informant's name, phone number and address.

The case involved a murder last August at the Groves Apartment in North Sacramento.

Sheriff deputies found Michael Sanderson shot in his apartment. He later died at the hospital.

Arrested for the murder were Travis Mabson, 31; Patrick McPherson, 24; Patrick Godines and Jeanette Campbell.

The Facebook posting showsed the tipsheet from an informant and listed Campbell as a suspect for that murder.

Detectives weren't sure if the name listed on Facebook posting as the informant was the person who actually called in the tip.

"Unless the information is vital to the investigation, our detectives will not follow up with the tipster," said sheriff's spokesman Deputy Jason Ramos. "So someone else could have called in using that person's name."

According to Ramos, even though the document is confidential, no crime was committed.
